What items do you classify as fragile during a move?
We generally categorise anything that can easily break, chip, or shatter as fragile. This includes glassware, ceramics, porcelain, mirrors, lamps, and electronics. We also include antiques, oil paintings, and sentimental items that require extra padding and specific positioning within the removal van.
Do I need to wrap my own pictures and mirrors?
If you choose our professional packing service, we take care of all of that for you. We use specialist mirror boxes or wrap them in multiple layers of bubble wrap and corrugated cardboard. For those moving between Carlisle and Dumfries, we make sure these flat, glass-fronted items are stored upright and secured to the side of the van to prevent any pressure on the glass.
Can you pack my kitchen if I have a lot of expensive china?
Yes, glassware packing and kitchen breakables are a core part of what we do. We use double-walled boxes and plenty of packing paper to create a "cushion" at the top and bottom of every box. Each plate and bowl is wrapped individually to prevent "clinking" during the drive through Carlisle or over to Annan.
Is my jewellery and small high-value items covered?
While we provide comprehensive insurance for your furniture and household goods, we always recommend that you keep small, high-value items like jewellery, watches, and important legal documents with you personally during the move. This keeps them under your direct control while we handle the bulkier fragile items.
Do you provide packing materials if I want to do it myself?
We certainly can. We supply the same professional-grade bubble wrap and double-walled boxes we use ourselves. Just let us know what you need for your Carlisle house removals and we can arrange delivery to your home.
How do you handle fragile items in the rain?
Cumbrian and Scottish weather can be unpredictable. We use waterproof covers for mattresses and sofas, and we make sure all cardboard boxes are moved quickly from the house to the van. We also use floor runners to protect your carpets from damp shoes while we are carrying your packed boxes.
Can you pack fragile items for office relocations in Dumfries?
Yes, we handle office removals as well. This includes the careful packing of computer monitors, printers, and delicate IT equipment. We use anti-static wrapping and secure crates to make sure your business hardware is protected during the move.
Professional Handling for Your Valued Possessions
Our team uses high-quality packing materials to ensure every item is cushioned against movement and vibration. We utilise acid-free tissue paper for silverware and delicate china, combined with professional-grade bubble wrap and sturdy, double-walled corrugated boxes to provide maximum structural integrity. For larger, intricate items such as antique furniture, gilt-framed mirrors, or fine art, we employ bespoke padding techniques that shield surfaces from pressure and environmental exposure. This rigorous focus on preparation is a core component of our wider packing and removals service in Carlisle.

Logistics and Transit Safety Across the Borders
Moving across regions like the M6 corridor or the A74(M) into South West Scotland requires careful logistical planning to manage road vibration and variable weather conditions. Our crews are trained to secure load weights efficiently, ensuring that boxes containing fragile items remain stable throughout the journey. We use waterproof mattress covers and heavy-duty furniture blankets to protect your goods from the wet-weather conditions often encountered in the Cumbrian and Dumfriesshire regions, ensuring that even in heavy rain, your possessions remain dry and secure.
